Can constant fighting be ual tension?

i have a friend from school that i am really attracted to. He is a football player and is really tan and just adorable... BUT he does not know that i am gay. I am not the most manly person in the world, but i am not really feminine so not that many people know. Anyway, i have grown to be really good friends with this jock... I drive him home everyday and we just joke around in school alot. in the recent months though he has gotten really physical like he always plays the nervous game, touching my back when we are in cl, he plays footsie with me, and we are always humiliating each other in cl. He always calls me gay and stuff but it is not like he is singling me out and being really mean... it is just kind of playful. Well today at school i was really irritable and he was just rubbing me the wrong way at school... after school when we were driving home i was not saying anything which is kind of weird because we are always laughing and screwing around the whole ride home... But today i told him that he was being an annoying piece of **** and he just needed to be quiet. So he got really mad and was saying that i am never talking to him anymore and that he thinks that i have been being an ahole. I know it sounds like any other argument but it was like really heated. more than just two friends would bicker... Like lots of long eye contact and touching. keep in mind that he has no idea that i have a tiny crush on him... but the way he was acting was like i meant something more to him. when he got out of the car he slammed my door shut, and called me 10 minutes later and left a message saying that he was really sorry. is he crushing on me or something?
