Why are Ancient Chinese dramas not very diverse?

Its people arent trained very creative, they're only good at copying what works and sells. I never watch their dramas, movies, only 2-3 story lines, either about the royal families or about 20th century revolutions and japanese invasions. Zhang Yi Mou produces equally bad and boring stuffs.
